After a few delays at the ship yard the QE2 was finely ready for launching into the Clyde how ever her hardship at the yard wasn't over just yet as she would be plagued with workers strikes at the yard and walk outs and the men working slow as they realised was she was finshed they would be no more work at the yard but when launch came the Queen arrived to name her!

The Queen would later be given a letter by the cunard chairmen which contained the name for the Ship which original was planned to be Just Queen Elizebeth after her predersseor however at launch the queen did something no one expected
"I name this Ship the Queen Elizebeth the Second" Later cunard would get round this by changing the number to a 2 not the Roman numerals II. and Cunard always said she was not named after the current queen.
